How can we ever put on a Horse Show without our lovely friends Von Strantz? We hosted a show earlier this year for these ladies and now they will be back again for the Horse Show. If you haven’t seen them yet, why not? Coming from Indiana, this folk duo has been all over the country stirring people’s souls.

Also playing is Mocklove from Columbia, MO. Mocklove is progressive, aggressive, and emotional; hearts pounding and minds pondering with their catchy, visceral melodies combined with soothing, raw vocals.

Brandon Austin, a Christian hip-hop artist from Springfield IL. With a unique style and positive lyrics, “BA” is a performer you won’t forget!

Once again, we’re happy to bring along Like… With Jetpacks, Springfield’s #1 video game cover band. Their version of the Legend of Zelda theme never gets old, they also write their own songs that sound like video games and have plenty of other little fun nuggets.

Our last band to announce for now is Pretend I’m Not There. This is the immersive ambient solo project of B.J. Pearce of Springfield, one of the most active people of the Springfield scene. We thought about listing all the bands he’s currently a part of, but that would take a while…

Horse Show Lineup Announcement #1

23 Apr

Finally, we’re ready to start telling you who will be playing Horse Show 2016. We want to spread these announcements out so we can tell you a little bit about each band while we do it. As with all Radon shows, you can expect an eclectic lineup.

First up we’re really excited to bring in Keyoung, spoken word artist from Columbus OH. A favorite at Cornerstone and AudioFeed, Keyoung is working on a new album and we think the best way to describe what he does is to just watch the following video.

Also we’re excited to have Trouper come hang with us. From Mansfield, OH, Trouper describes their sound as Alternative Electropop Rock. They killed it last year at AudioFeed and we’re excited to bring to Springfield.

The Horse Show, just like most Radon shows, is a balanced mix of local artists and folks from out of town. So first up representing the Springfield area is The Locals. These indie rock guys are definitely becoming a pretty regular band to see on Radon lineups, but that’s just because they’re that good.

Also from Springfield is singer-songwriter Arlin Peebles of Studio Show fame. We’re excited to have him back once again for another Radon show.

And last up for this announcement is duo Bonnie and Lance. They’ve been playing our open mics and it just makes sense to have them around, especially as Bonnie is one of the mentors at Refuge Ranch. It’s great including artists from the Ranch itself in the show!

That’s all for now. Expect more announcements in the coming weeks! Look for the Horse Show facebook event here.

Next Radon Lounge Show, May 7

17 Apr

We just had a really great Open Mic and are continuing our plans the Horse Show on June 18. But today we want to talk about our next Radon Lounge show on May 7.

We’re really excited to bring The Young Eyes, from Greenville, IL, a new band featuring members of Brian Lee & His Orchestra. You might remember us squeeing like little school girls in the past over Brian Lee, so you can have no doubt we’re excited about this new band.

Also on the show are The Locals, a Springfield band who have definitely become a common name to see popping up on Radon shows. They started on the scene by winning Black Sheep’s battle of the bands and last year won the Illinois Time’s pick for best underage band. They’re definitely just as rad as ever.

Stereo Static
, also of Springfield, are back from last November’s open mic. They just finished recording an EP and even have a tour under their belt. We’re excited to see where this band goes from here.
